The City was moving along very well with the elevation grants and soon became a template for how to run the program. Nassau Bay was heralded as a success story for home elevations with the State of Texas having other cities reach out to mimic our processes. The City won an award for this program in the first quarter of 2020.
The home elevations for this grant began in 2020, with two separate rounds, and consists of nine (9) homes being elevated. Unfortunately, 14 homes were denied for not meeting FEMA's benefit cost analysis.
Homeowners chose three contractors, from a City approved list of four, to elevate their homes, with the work split evenly. This was very beneficial for the construction timeline as the homes have been finished ahead of schedule and under budget.
