2020 Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is October 4-10, 2020, and this year's theme is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” The theme works to educate the public about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe. According to NFPA, cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries in the United States.
Traditionally, Fire Prevention Week is a time for the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department (NBVFD) to promote fire safety and awareness with school visits with the fire engine, ending with the annual Open House celebration at the Fire & EMS Station. As the NBVFD is limited in the activities they will be doing this year, they will be instead hosting several virtual activities to encourage all residents to embrace the 2020 Fire Prevention Week theme!
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, this year the NBVFD will hold a Virtual Open House using the Zoom platform! The Virtual Open House is scheduled for October 9th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. In addition to the Virtual Open House, the NBVFD is holding a Poster Contest for kids and a Raffle Drawing for adults. Winners will be announced during the live Virtual Open House.
