At the June 10th City Council meeting, Nassau Bay adopted a new Schedule of Fees for building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire, and miscellaneous permits and related inspections.
The full Building Department Schedule of Fees can be view here: Building Department Schedule of Fees (pdf).
In the recent legislative session, Governor Abbott approved House Bill 852, which drastically changed the way that Nassau Bay determines building permit and inspection fees. The City has worked diligently to ensure this newly approved fee schedule adequately covers the costs of the work performed by the Building Department. This new fee schedule is not a response by the City to collect additional fee revenue.
Nassau Bay's new Building Department fees and charges apply to permit applications and inspections that are filed on or after May 21, 2019 (per the House bill).
This new fee schedule was adopted by the City Council on June 10, 2019 by Resolution R2019-2176 (pdf), which repealed Resolution R2019-2170 adopted earlier this year.
This fee schedule may be adjusted periodically by City Council to reflect fluctuations in the estimated cost to the City in the administration of permits, fees, and inspections. The City reserves the right to assess fees based upon the actual cost incurred by the City for multiple iterations of reviews of construction plans and specifications and for the review of offsite plans of infrastructure improvements needed to serve the development.
Permits may be obtained at 1800 Space Park Dr., Suite 200, Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday between the hours of 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. For more information, call the Building Department at 281-336-6292 or visit their webpage at: https://www.nassaubay.com/163/Building-Department.
