John Mahon and his wife, Kelly, have resided in Nassau Bay for fifteen years. They have five children (all who have either graduated or attend school in Clear Creek ISD). John remains an active member of multiple volunteer organizations within the school system and in Nassau Bay as well as board member of the Clear Creek Swim League and the Nassau Bay Nauticats
Mr. Mahon currently holds the position of the Director of Business and Commercial Development at Kinder Morgan Inc. in Houston. He has been responsible for multiple development projects for midstream energy expansion as well as renewable fuels. He has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences on energy and renewable fuels integration as well as a guest advisor to the US State Department on energy infrastructure nationally and worldwide. A graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Mr. Mahon holds a limited masters license and sailed for several years as an officer on deep water tankers. Mr. Mahon was commissioned and served as an officer in the United States Naval Reserve until his honorable discharge in 2007 as a Lieutenant Commander.
Councilmember Mahon was recently elected to City Council in May 2013. He is honored to be taking the council position opened by Ron Swofford’s retirement due to term limits. Mr. Mahon was chairperson for the last eight years on the City’s Special Events Committee. The Mahon family takes great pride in being from Nassau Bay and believes that the vibrant community spirit found in Nassau Bay is well in part why folks continue to look at Nassau Bay as the ideal community to live and work. He places a high priority on improving upon the City’s physical infrastructure through successful redevelopment of the commercial district. He looks forward to helping grow our community while at the same time maintaining a balanced and fiscally well-managed City budget.
