Job Summary
- Responds to all medical emergency calls during assigned part-time hours or on weekends and performs all duties necessary to provide adequate medical care to patients in a pre-hospital setting. Employee will take on leadership role in his/her capacity in relation to the job duties as assigned by the Administrator. Job duties may be administrative as well as Lead role during emergencies. This position is eligible for participation in City’s retirement plan with TMRS.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Responsible for performing patient care on routine ambulance calls on a part-time basis.
- Must be able to work 36 hours per week.
- Must be able to offer a flexible schedule including Days, Nights, Weekends, and turn in availability for one major holiday and one minor holiday per calendar year.
- Must be able to assist and coordinate with other emergency medical treatment services at the BLS, ALS, and MICU levels.
- Responsible for processing all run sheet data for ambulance calls assigned.
- Responsible for providing routine maintenance of vehicle and equipment and inspecting and servicing ambulance to insure necessary supplies are in stock and equipment works properly
- Responsible for maintaining proper inventory of medical supplies and purchasing of medical supplies and equipment.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisors or their designees.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to pass the City of Nassau Bay EMS protocol test with a satisfactory score
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations and general knowledge of federal, state, and city laws and ordinances. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English and to lift and carry patients as needed.

Required Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Paramedic certification or Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Texas State driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
