The City of Nassau Bay is a
unique community whose history is deeply rooted in the American space

Nassau Bay was built to provide housing
and commercial building space in support of the Manned Spacecraft
Center, now known as the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. (See history
pages)

Many astronauts who have worked and trained
at the space center have made Nassau Bay their home and raised their
families here.

other support personnel have resided in Nassau Bay for the last
thirty-five year
Our Community
Nassau Bay is a small suburban community
of nearly two square miles. Our permanent resident population is nearly
4,300. During business hours our population is significantly greater.
Additionally, the Nassau Bay area receives an average of 2,700 tourist
visitors each day.
- About two-thirds of Nassau Bay is residential
while the remainder is commercial.
- Our commercial district includes over a
dozen buildings four to fourteen stories in height and many more
large office building complexes.
- We have three marinas with hundreds of pleasure
boats docked along our waterfront.
- We have four hotels with a combined total
of 600 rooms.
- A small portion of the Johnson Space Center
is within the jurisdictional boundaries of Nassau Bay. A larger
portion of the space center is within the jurisdictional boundaries
of the City of Houston.
