National Night Out
October 4, 2016

What is National Night Out?
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. It is intended to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are invested in the unity and quality of their communities.

Groups organize block parties or cookouts and are visited by local emergency services and city dignitaries. Nassau Bay Police Officers and City Staff will make their rounds to visit each registered event location.

Last year City Staff hosted a city-wide party, but the City will not host a party this year. We want to bring the parties back to the neighborhoods so there is a better opportunity for residents to meet those that live next to them. This also allows Police Officers and City Staff more time to spend visiting with the residents by going to each registered block party.
