The Arts Alliance Center At Clear Lake

A spacious atrium and galleries features changing art exhibits:

  • Juried Competitions. Area artists are given the opportunity to display their works through participation in several juried competitions (open media; photography) throughout the year.
  • Exhibitions. Invitationals, student art exhibitions (Clear Creek and Friendswood ISD’s “Rodeo Art”; CCISD’s “Young at Art”; a “Mentor Show” in which area high school seniors’ and college art students’ works are displayed alongside their instructors’), Gallery photo: © Linda Lapointecollections (past shows have included private collections of vintage surfboards, guitars, motorcycles and automobiles) and other special, thought-provoking exhibitions (assembled works in neon and glass by renowned glass artists from across the state of Texas) have delighted, challenged and inspired thousands of visitors.

  • Imagination Station is a FREE children's program for ages 5 and up.
  • Summer Arts Offerings are aimed at youth ages 4 through 16 in a variety of media, from music and drama to mixed media and more
  • Art Education Classes in all media for youth and adults are offered year-round. Classes and special workshops include digital arts (Photoshop, Illustrator, animation, 3D modeling, digital painting), drawing, painting (watercolor, oils, acrylic), creative writing, drama & music, millinery (hat-making), Ikebana (Japanese art of flower arrangement) and more. Classes are offered during the day, evenings, and weekends.

Performances. These include:

  • Jazz trumpet photo: © Linda LapointeLegends of Jazz (a summertime favorite!), an annually sold-out performance given by area jazz greats, coordinated by Straight No Chaser Productions, Inc.
  • Area musicians of all types play during each gallery exhibition’s opening reception— visitors are treated to performances by harpists, pianists, classical guitarists, orchestral trios and quartets, rock and jazz musicians.
  • And more.

Houston International Poets’ The Word Factory.

  • A poetry reading group designed to encourage writers to develop vocal presentation techniques in a comfortable and supportive environment, meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Center.
  • All aspiring writers, published authors and first-timers, are welcome and encouraged to attend these FREE workshops, frequently hosted by guest speakers.
