[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Large Vessel Move Impacting NASA Road 1

Emergency Managment Post AdvisoryHeavy Equipment Haul Update: The heavy equipment we have been expecting will move through Nassau Bay tonight, August 8 beginning at approximately 11:00 PM. We want to remind you that there will be traffic and power impacts to the community. Intersections will be controlled by law enforcement, but you should expect delays on NASA Rd. 1 between the hours of 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM. Most power outages will be less than 30 minutes, but some could last as long as 2 hours. Again, the heavy equipment haul will travel east along NASA Rd. 1 late tonight through early Friday morning. The time of arrival to our area is subject to change, and updates will be posted to the city’s Facebook page.

For more information, please see the details below:

Route and Traffic Information:

The heavy equipment and support vehicles will enter the NASA Bypass from I-45. All lanes of the bypass will be shut down during the move. The vehicles will then travel east on NASA Road 1 on their way to the Houston Bayport Terminal. The equipment is currently scheduled to move through Nassau Bay between 11:00 PM Thursday and 3:00 AM Friday. Officers will be controlling traffic at all impacted intersections. Visit Nassau Bay’s Facebook page the night of the move for more up-to-date timing.

Haul Route

Power Information:

The equipment being hauled is 27 feet tall and will require power and traffic lights to be disconnected and reconnected along the route. CenterPoint Energy stated that outages should last only a few minutes. However, there is a possibility power outages could last for up to two hours for some customers. Citizens are encouraged to sign up for CenterPoint Energy’s Power Alert Service to receive notifications of outages directly from Centerpoint.
