City of Nassau Bay Mayor Mark Denman has issued a voluntary evacuation recommendation for Nassau Bay’s most vulnerable residents including the disabled and those with medical needs.
You can view the Voluntary Evacuation Order here.
The latest update from the National Weather Service predicts Tropical Storm Laura will develop into a Category 2 hurricane and track to the upper Texas Coast or southwest Louisiana, making landfall Wednesday night. There is still some uncertainty regarding the track and strength of this storm, and residents should be aware changes could occur quickly. Though a direct hit is not in our forecast, we could experience some high winds, rain, and storm surge. Residents can expect power outages and delays in emergency response during and after the storm.
Whether you evacuate or not, please be sure to secure all loose items outside your home including patio furniture, potted plants, etc.
If you haven’t signed up for Nassau Bay Alerts, please do so now. The link to register is on the Nassau Bay website’s home page, or you can email your address and contact information to OEM@nassaubay.com. This is the primary way Nassau Bay will communicate with residents during emergencies.
