Per current information from the National Weather Service, freeze conditions are expected to impact the greater Houston area beginning this Thursday night, December 22. Temperatures will remain at freezing or sub-freezing levels through Saturday afternoon (December 24).
Winds of 25-35MPH or higher are also expected to impact the area from Thursday through Friday, as well as wind gusts of 45-55MPH. Wind chills may feel as low as single digits.
Residents are advised to take action now to protect the “Four P’s” – people, plants, pets and pipes.
Make sure to cover up any outdoor pipes, and plan to set your thermostat to 68 degrees or higher as cold temperatures approach. Remember to drip water through all faucets, and leave cabinet doors open to allow pipes to stay as warm as possible.
Bring any sensitive plants indoors and cover those remaining outside. Finally, ensure that all pets are kept indoors or provided adequate shelter – if you are cold, so are your pets.
